The Literature Society

Bakkehuset is supported by the Danish Literature Society, which dates back to 1928. It was founded for what was then the recently opened museum. The society is interested in literary subjects extending from the medieval ballads to contemporary Danish poetry and prose, and efforts are made for subjects discussed to be of immediate interest, for instance relating to books recently published.

 

The Danish Literature Society holds meetings in Bakkehuset with lectures, readings, discussions etc. Every year in November, the society celebrates the birthday of Adam Oehlenschläger in Frederiksberg Castle and also arranges an annual literary outing in the forest. Membership of the Literature Society costs DKK 200 a year, and there is an initial fee of DKK 50.
